Volunteering for the Last Time
Old Trafford 7th August 2012
Today's the last day I'll be volunteering at Old Trafford - I'll be looking after the VIP's who have come to see a South Korean side, who have vastly overcome expectation, play Brazil the long-standing favourites to win the Gold medal, at quarter to eight. If Korea lose, as the betting sites predict, they still have a fine opportunity to get the Bronze medal against either Mexico or Japan, who play at Wembley today at five o'clock.

Canada 3 USA 4
Women's Semi Final - Old Trafford 6th August 2012
What a match. The USA lead the game for less than half a minute, and still won the match after a thrilling non-stop contest between two international next door neighbours. Can't believe USA won. Sinclair's hat trick wasn't enough for Canada.Gooaall !! USA

Women's Semi Final - Old Trafford 6th August 2012
It's 3 - 3 after 90 minutes, so it's going to have to go to extra time, and maybe even penalties after that. USA haven't lead score-wise yet, but keep coming back at Canada. What more can this game produce? Here are the game's goal scorers so far.
- SINCLAIR Christine (22'),
- SINCLAIR Christine (67'),
- SINCLAIR Christine (73')
- RAPINOE Megan (54'),
- RAPINOE Megan (70'),
- WAMBACH Abby (80' pen),

Women's Semi Final - Old Trafford 6th August 2012
CANADA 3 USA 3 Scored by Wambach (80')
Penalty taken into the bottom right hand corner. Keeper goes the right way but will never get there. Controversial though. After an incorrectly given indirect free kick inside the box, Rapinoe blasts it at the wall hard, hits the side of a Canadian, and a penalty is given. Ball to hand, surely? Not for the ref. Very well taken penalty though. What a game so far.

Women's Semi Final - Old Trafford 6th August 2012
CANADA 3 USA 2 Scored by Sinclair (72')
5 minutes, 3 goals. Sinclair's got a hat trick, and a fantastic one. The captain's scroed again. A great header from a corner, and again past the fingertips of the USA goalie Hope Solo. Canada are back in front. But can they keep it that way?

Women's Semi Final - Old Trafford 6th August 2012
CANADA 2 USA 2 Scored by Rapinoe (69')
This goal's an absolute peach. Play is switched from left to right, and outside of the penalty box, Rapinoe smacks in past the Canada goalie in the top left corner, then bounces off and in to the right corner. Great goal.

CANADA 1 USA 1 Scored by Rapinroe (53')
What an odd goal! Dear oh dear, Canada have made some mistakes here. A goal directly from a corner in at the front post, all because the woman on the line misjudged the flight of the ball completely and came off the line to try and head it away, but it was about three feet over the Canadian. After that, the ball went straight through the legs of both the Canadian defender and keeper who were frantically scrambling back to goal. What a dreadful set piece defence from Canada. USA are lucky. Can they use this to their advantage or will Canada come back at them? Only time will tell.

Second Half is Under-way
Women's Semi Final - Old Trafford 6th August 2012
The second half is under-way here at Old Trafford between Canada and the USA.
One closely contested half of the match will hopefully lead to another here.
Canada one, USA nil.
Half Time Canada 1 USA 0
Women's Semi Final - Old Trafford 6th August 2012
Big shock for the USA - their noisy neighbours Canada are up a goal! Incredible here at Old Trafford. The USA are in danger of not being in the gold medal final for the first time EVER since women's football entered the Olympic schedule in 1996! Canada have been doing excellently and have made a load of chances. Then again, the USA haven't been quiet either. 1 - 0 Canada.
And here's Old Trafford at Half time, with a great turnout for women's football. Spectacular and unexpected football results have been happening here at the Theatre of Dreams all through the Olympics, be it men or women's football. Could we be witnessing another one here? Only the second half will tell.

Japan 2 - 1 France
Women's Semi Final 1
Wembley - 6th August 2012
FT: JAPAN 2 FRANCE 1
In an agonisingly close game, Japan beat France 2 - 1 in the Women's football. Japan were two nil up thanks to a goal from a free kick in the 32nd minute by forward Yuki Ogimi and a headed goal from a free kick in the 49th minute by midfielder Mizuho Sakaguchi. It was clear, then, that France's weak point was set play. However, Japan were almost broken down back to level terms as super sub Le Sommer Eugenie, who came on in the 58th minute and scored a spectacular volley in th 76th minute. French midfielder Elise Bussaliga had the chance to put away a penalty to make the score 2 - 2, and who knows what would've happened if that chance was taken. But no, the game ended in Japan's favour. Japan had an efficient but unspectacular evening, scoring two goals in four shots, whereas France had a wasteful evening, missing a penalty, and only scoring one goal in twenty seven shots.
