Japan 2 - 1 France

Women's Semi Final 1
Wembley - 6th August 2012
FT: JAPAN 2 FRANCE 1

In an agonisingly close game, Japan beat France 2 - 1 in the Women's football. Japan were two nil up thanks to a goal from a free kick in the 32nd minute by forward Yuki Ogimi and a headed goal from a free kick in the 49th minute by midfielder Mizuho Sakaguchi. It was clear, then, that France's weak point was set play. However, Japan were almost broken down back to level terms as super sub Le Sommer Eugenie, who came on in the 58th minute and scored a spectacular volley in th 76th minute. French midfielder Elise Bussaliga had the chance to put away a penalty to make the score 2 - 2, and who knows what would've happened if that chance was taken. But no, the game ended in Japan's favour. Japan had an efficient but unspectacular evening, scoring two goals in four shots, whereas France had a wasteful evening, missing a penalty, and only scoring one goal in twenty seven shots.
