Mexico - Gold

Full Time, Mexico 2 Brazil 1

Final - Wembley - 11th August 2012
MEXICO HAVE DONE IT!
Who would have thought that Mexico would win gold at the Olympics? And so convincingly? They've shattered one of the best footballing sides in the world to get gold, and they're ecstatic. Well done Mexico.

CHANCE!!!

GOODNESS ME THAT WAS A CHANCE! HULK PUTS IN A GREAT BALL, AND CHELSEA'S OSCAR, WITH A FREE HEADER, PUTS IT OVER THE BAR!!! ALL HE NEEDED WAS TO GET IT ON TARGET!!! THE 19 Y/O IS ABSOLUTELY DISTRAUGHT!

Gooaall !! BRA

MEXICO 2 BRAZIL 1 Scored by HULK!!! (90+1')
HULK!!! Easily Brazil's best player in this game, Porto's incredible Hulk has just scored a fantastic goal in the late stages of the match, and has perhaps initiated the best comeback of Olympic football final, or perhaps just football final, history! Two minutes remain! Can they force it into extra time?

Gooaall !! MEX

MEXICO 2 BRAZIL 0 Scored by PERALTA!!! (75')
THEY'VE DONE IT!!! MEXICO HAVE ONE FOOT ON THE GOLD MEDAL!!! Brazil haven't found their rhythm all day long, and have given the ball away so many times, very sloppy. Awful defending too. No Brazilian defender seemed to move, as Peralta again raced through and powered in a completely free header. They deserve this lead.

Gooaall !! MEX

MEXICO 1 BRAZIL 0 Scored by PERALTA!!! (0.28')
MEXICO ARE AHEAD AFTER 28 SECONDS!!! UNITED'S RAFAEL GIVES THE BALL AWAY EASILY AND NO. 9 MAN PERALTA STROKES IT IN AT THE NEAR POST WITH A WONDERFUL CURLING STRIKE. AMAZING. WHAT AN IMPORTANT GOAL!!!

The Olympic Football Final

Final - Wembley - 11th August 2012

Here's the view at Wembley, as the teams line up for their national anthems.

I've had a look at the starting 11's, and this is how I expect the teams to play, although Brazil will be a lot more free-flowing than Mexico, with Oscar, Romulo, Hulk and especially Neymar drifting around the pitch. On the other hand, Mexico will be very organised and tight, and won't get their full backs up as much as Brazil. Mexico are missing their top scorer and assister of the Olympic campaign, underrated Tottenham player Giovanni Dos Santos, so perhaps that will be a problem. Superstar 20 y/o Neymar is looking to impress, as always.

Full time! Brazil beat Korea!

Semi Final - Old Trafford - 7th August 2012
Great displays from both teams. Friendly hugs, shirt swappings, and pats on backs all round. Korea have over-performed in this competition, but have been defeated by a superb Brazilian side. A bronze for them would be fantastic.

FULL TIME:  BRAZIL 3  KOREA - 0

Gooaall !! BRA

BRAZIL 3 KOREA 0 Scored by Dimiao (63')
Brazil are in the final against Mexico! Korea have fought valiantly, but to no avail. The favourites come out on top. Great feet from Dimiao, reacts extremely quickly and shuffles his feel to stroke it past the Korean keeper and defence. Great goal, similar to Ronaldinho's against Chelsea a few years back.

BRAZIL 2 KOREA 0 Scored by Dimiao (56')
Dimiao strokes it into the bottom left corner from a fabulous Neymar cross. Korea have put up a fight, but Brazil have one foot on the game now.

Penalty Incorrectly Not Given!

Semi Final - Old Trafford - 7th August 2012
Sandro, the Brazilian defensive midfield player, quite clearly tumbled Kim Hyun-Sung over in the middle of the penalty box. Poor decision by the ref, who was right there. The Tottenham player's lucky to get away with that one, it could've been a game changer. Ridiculous really. (48', 2nd).

Second half starts

Semi Final - Old Trafford - 7th August 2012
Korea have had a better performance so far and have been very unlucky.
Can they carry it on though to beat Brazil?
We'll find out, as the second half begins.

Half time here at Old Trafford 1 - 0

Semi Final - Old Trafford - 7th August 2012
Well it's half time here, and Korea really should be leading, but no, it's Brazil 1, Korea 0 after an incredible mistake by the Korean keeper.

Gooaall !! BRA (39')

BRAZIL 1 KOREA 0 Scored by Romulo (39')
Goalkeeping error by Lee Bum-Young. An awful shot trickles in between the Korean keeper's legs as he falls to save it. Still, Romulo seems pretty happy about it.

Another chance for Korea!

Semi Final - Old Trafford - 7th August 2012
Another amazing chance for Korea! Forward Ji Dong-Won floats in a beautiful and enticing ball into Kim Hyun-Sung, who heads it back to Ji just before the goalie, who came racing out to get it, could get a finger to it. Dong-Won then heads it, but the Brazil centre back excellently dives in the way to keep it out, keeper nowhere. Maybe Korea will regret missing these later on...

Great chance for Korea

Semi Final - Old Trafford - 7th August 2012
Great chance for Korea, but Brazil put everyone they could in front of the ball after three shots by Korea with the goalie beaten. Forward Kim Hyun-Sung (pictured) can't believe it. 10th minute in.
